The Lagoons

The Natural Park of The Lagoons of La Mata and Torrevieja is a first-rate moorland.

It has an area of 3.700 hectareas, of which 2100 are water. It is a resting place for more than 2.000 specimens of migrating flamingoes, as well as black-necked "zampullines"  (3.000 birds), avocets, etc...altogether, the birds number nearly one hundred.

To make it easier for the trekker exists an Information Bureau, signposted itineraries and qualified staff for your attention.
You can either follow the itineraries by bicycle (5.200 metres) or on foot. If you bike, you will enjoy the magnificient views of both lagoons with the Mediterranean at the back and be able to stop at the cool pinoforest filled with birds and vineyards. If you walk you will be given the oportunity to visit the existing ecosystems. You are advised to make a stopat the pineforest for a look at most of salt marsh.
